Statistical Analysis of the Standard of Living of the Middle Class in Russia

The goal of the research is to investigate the indicators and the determinants of the standard of living of the middle class in Russia using different methods of cluster analysis, binary choice model and OLS regression. The empirical analysis is based on Rosstat sample survey conducted in 2015. This study is presented in three parts. The first part is dedicated to the overview of theoretical approach to the middle class. In the second part the empirical methods were applied to determine the borders of the middle class in Russia and the portraits of the typical representors were presented. In the third part factors that influence middle class standard of living were identified
