Problems and Prospects for the Development of International Tourism in the Arctic

World tourism is growing at a very fast pace, having a considerable impact on the development of infrastructure and employment. For this reason, the need to explore new attractive areas arises. Up until now tourism in Arctic region has been underdeveloped. Research has attributed this situation to fragile ecosystem and rigorous climate of the region, which put an obstacle to develop proper infrastructure. However, this destination remains in focus of touristic companies and arctic countries, since it has great economic potential. This study aims at identifying key problems of Arctic tourism industry development, offering possible solutions and outlining prospects for the nearest future.
