Art history considers a polyconch as a church building with three or more apses at the base of the dome. Since the Xth century, such forms began to reappear on the territory of Tao, reviving the interest to complicated compositions on the other territories. The purpose of this study is to analyze Georgian polyconchial architecture of the 10th-11th centuries. This paper examines the origin and development of the phenomenon of polyconches constructed in Tao-Klarjeti and the rest of Georgia. As a result of applying a historiographic and stylistic analysis, it became possible to recreate the picture of spreading of the type, as well as to build a chronology of monuments. This architectural phenomenon is interesting for its complex nature and was developed as a result of the interaction of the local tradition with the Armenian heritage, Byzantine elements, and later Turkish reorganizations. The work consists of several parts: the first two chapters consist of the comprehensive analysis of the selected monuments; the last chapter is devoted to the reconstruction of the phenomenon.
