The Impact of WTO Law on International Energy Relations

The main purpose of the present thesis was revelation and analysis of the international legal and international trade norms, which bring a great impact on international energy relations.

The thesis contains the source analysis of the ECT and the WTO treaties on the issues of parallel proceedings, an analysis of the obligations within the framework of the OPEC and the WTO, analysis of the relevant case, brought before the DSB of the WTO with respect of the EU regulation on energy and competition. The present thesis also analyses the issues of the legal regime of the trade of fossil fuels, renewable sources, biofuels as well as services, affiliated with energy consumption and energy distribution. The problem of green subsidies has also been reflected.

The methodology of the research is presented by the dialectical method of scientific cognition as a universal method for any study. This method of cognition was used in combination with historical, comparative-legal, dogmatic-legal and logical methods.

The conclusions of this work are based on an analysis of the provisions of the norms contained in international treaties, foreign and domestic doctrine, relevant international practice.
