Social and Political Ideas of Yevgeny Zamyatin

This study is devoted to the re-creation of the system of socio-political views of Ye. I. Zamyatin - one of the major thinkers, public figures and writers of Russia at the beginning of the XX century. The object of this study is the legacy of Ye. I. Zamyatin: his articles, interviews, works of art and personal correspondence. The object of the study is Ye. I. Zamyatin's system of views on various social and political issues. The work includes four chapters, each of is devoted to one of the periods characterized by changes in Zamyatin's system of views and expression, social life and creativity: until 1917, from 1917 to the end of the 1920s, from the late 1920s to his death in 1937, a separate chapter, dedicated to the novel "We" because of the central significance of this work in Zamyatin's worldview. Each chapter includes an analysis of the positions on socio-political issues, the demonstration of sources of polemics and support in external systems of views, the identification of the significance of the chosen forms of expressing Zamyatin’s own position.
