The Allied Issue in Athenian Foreign Policy During the Peloponnessian War

The graduation work is dedicated to The Allied Issue in Athenian Foreign Policy during the Peloponnesian War. The analysis of social and political moods of the allies was carried out within the framework of the graduation work, analysis of the interests and reasons that prompted the cities to join the Athens Union, analysis of the motives of Athens, that guided policy for engagement with the side of the allies. The relevance of the work is determined by the need to understand the role of foreign policy in inter-state cooperation. This problem is relevant not only in the modern world. It is also central to the history of the Greek world of the classical period. One example of intergovernmental cooperation can serve as an allied question in the period of the Peloponnesian war. In modern historiography, not much attention is paid to finding out the ways and methods of acquiring allies by the Athenian state. The struggle for allies was important for each of the opposing sides, because the balance of power depended on the outcome of the war. The object of research is historical sources related to the Peloponnesian war and personalities who played an important role in the investigated epoch. The subject of the study is the information contained in the sources. These sources contain information about the impact of the foreign policy functions of the Athens Union on relations with allies in the Peloponnesian war. The purpose of the study is to identify the degree of influence of Athens ' foreign policy functions on relations with allies. The graduation work consists of introduction, three chapters, conclusion, list of used sources and literature.
