Faculty: Faculty of Law

Educational Programme: Jurisprudence (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2018

This research refers to major issues pertaining to the appellations of origin of goods (AO). The interest to this topic is caused by a very special practical value of the AO, that indicates the connection of the properties of products with its geographical origin. Such characteristic dictates a certain specificity of the legal position which should be reflected in the legislation. However norms of the Russian Civil Code do not always reflect this specificity. The general purpose of the research is to determine and investigate shortcomings of the applicable regulation of the AO and the issues arising in practice. In order to reach the goal we analyzed the nature of the AO, determined its differences from other similar law institutes, illuminated the features of the right protection and reviewed judicial practice concerning the AO.
