Satisfaction Level of MOOCs participants: Example of Russian Segment of Online Education

In this research it was explored factors that affect the level of satisfaction of participants in mass open online courses (MOOC). I was used data collected from 758 participants, who registered on 28 courses on the National Open Education Platform (openedu.ru). The results of the research show that a content of a course, which includes video, assessments, is as an important factor of satisfaction level. During the analysis, it was found that the students who started more assignments on a course, rated their a course satisfaction level higher. In addition, it was found that students of the social sciences courses and students who have had an experience of participating in MOOCs before were more satisfied. The results are consistent with Moore's “Theory of independent learning” (1979), and showing that it is very important to focus on a development of technologies and content, which are easier for listeners to interact with. These results could be used for improving a technic of the MOOCS development and enhance understanding of a MOOCs participants preferences.
