Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments in the Russian Federation

Student: Kotkova Viktoriia

Supervisor: Irina Ruderman

Faculty: Faculty of Law

Educational Programme: Private International Law (Master)

Final Grade: 8

Year of Graduation: 2018

This theme is of current interest especially for foreign judgments issued in countries with whom Russia does not have any bilateral or multilateral agreement on legal assistance, for example with such leaders of the EU as the UK, Germany, and France. The analysis of doctrine and court practice allows us to define the following issues:  lack of universal regulation adopted by most countries;  the distinction between national institutions on recognition and enforcement of judicial acts;  current regulation of recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments as not meeting the challenges of globalization and the interests of individuals.
