Energy transition with the emphasis on sustainable development has become one of the most topical issues recently. With the adoption and introduction of such accords as Paris Agreement and Agenda 2030, the improvement of energy efficiency, safety and affordability have been one of primary concerns for the whole world. The purpose of this research is twofold: examine and assess existing renewable energy polices in the EU-region, determine the impact of different sectors on the energy balance. After determining the financial instruments and sources of finance for the field, we will provide a comprehensive outlook on further development of alternative energy in yet neglected and under-explored spheres like transportation, heating and cooling. Quantitive methods, such as exploratory analysis will be used to asses the current and potential condition of the investment climate and the level of technological advance of renewables.
