This thesis is dedicated to the study of the role of the influence of the European Union policy on the change of foreign economic relations of Moldova after the beginning of active cooperation of the EU and Moldova since 2005. The opportunities of the Republic of Moldova with the European Union opens up opportunities for the development of Moldovan economy and strengthening its relations with the EU. However, it is obvious that the strengthening of the EU presence in the post-Soviet space (namely, in the Eastern Partnership countries) as an actor of international relations entails complications in the relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation, which, among other things, is expressed in a decrease in trade turnover between the Republic of Moldova, the Russian Federation and the CIS countries. Thus, the EU foreign policy towards Moldova substantially changes the previous economic ties of the Republic of Moldova The research also examines the possibilities to the development of trade relations between the European Union, Moldova and former foreign economic partners, and also analyzes the possibility to build a model of a pragmatic and mutually beneficial balance. In addition, it is relevant to study the EU's strategic goals in the post-Soviet space and the issue of how the factor of economic relations becomes an instrument of geopolitical struggle between the main actors in the European space. As a theoretical basis is used the concept of "civilian power of Europe" by Francoise Duchene, which describes the role of economic instruments as a foreign policy tool.
