This paper presents a study to identify the relation between health, nutrition and welfare. Four hypotheses were tested: the impact on BMI of eating habits and physical activities and the impact of welfare and BMI on health. The analysis was carried out on a sample based on the survey data of the Analytical center of Yuri Levada about people's attitude to their own health and the quality of medical care in Russia in 2017. Regression analysis showed that, as expected after empirical analysis and study of previous studies, there is a positive relation between welfare and human health. The positive relations between health and education, and health and smoking were also confirmed. Another conclusion of the study is the negative impact of BMI on health. Obesity, in addition to the direct negative impact on the human condition, also provokes many other diseases and complicates their course, which affected the self-assessment of health in this study. It was also confirmed the negative impact of sports on the body mass index. The expected impact of food habits on BMI and, consequently, on health, was not revealed. A possible explanation for this is the fact that eating unhealthy foods is more common to young people, for whom the problem of overweight has not yet become relevant.
