American and Chinese Approaches to Development of GVC's in Asia-Pacific Region: Economic and Political Aspects

The growth of global value chains (GVCs) has increased the interconnectedness. Inclusion of developing countries in GVC's allow them to become a part of the world economy and to improve their standard of living. In Asia-Pacific region USA and China take different approaches on formation of GVCs for spreading it's influence. Using a new approach to the measurement of international trade in value added, the author analyzes the prospects of the US-China relations in the Asia-Pacific region.
