In recent years, the Russian pharmaceutical industry has been actively developing as a result of the state policy aimed at the support of the national production of pharmaceuticals and the localization of production processes by foreign companies. Nevertheless, now the Russian pharmaceutical market still remains dependent on imported drugs, and foreign investments, made mainly by Western companies, can stop because of the deterioration of relations between Russia and a number of Western countries. Сonsequently, the Russian pharmaceutical industry should search for additional ways of development: here the most probable way is to use effectively the opportunities provided by the common market of pharmaceuticals of the Eurasian Economic Union. These opportunities are, first of all, in maximizing the sales of Russian medicines to the markets of the EAEU states, as well as in creation of an environment attractive for foreign companies to carry out deeper forms of localization. To achieve these goals, the author suggests amending the existing system of regulation of the common pharmaceutical market of the EAEU, in particular, to control a number of issues on the level of supranational regulation, and to develop cooperation with eastern pharmaceutical companies.
