As part of this study, an attempt was made to study the current stage of development of China's innovative profile and consider specific projects of cooperation in the field of high technologies with Southeast Asian countries. The aim of the work was to reveal the character of high-tech cooperation as a factor of expansion of regional interdependence and realization of China's foreign policy. Carrying out specific tasks to assess the applicability of neoliberalism as a theoretical direction for the analysis of cooperation; the study of the current stage in the evolution of China's innovation profile, a detailed analysis of partnership areas and foreign policy objectives was able to confirm the hypothesis: currently, China is actively using the dialogue in the innovation sphere as a driver of regional integration and an opportunity to strengthen its position as a regional leader. However, the powers of the leader will require him to solve the conflict over the South China sea, which cannot be achieved solely through cooperation in the field of science and technology.
