In this paper, author describes the scope of information technology and its main definitions and indicators; the definition of the standard of living and the possible ways of assessing it, the main indicators; A literature review describing the expected interrelationships of IT and the standard of living and methods for identifying and evaluating these links. Also it carried out research of the IT sphere and the standard of living of the population in Russia with the help of graphical methods of data visualization and statistical methods of information analysis.
