The Influence of New Appointments to the Board of Directors on Financial Performance of Russian Companies

In this research we examine the influence of new appointments to the Board of Directors on financial performance of Russian companies that is measured as an abnormal return – changes in share prices. Especially we are interested in the influence of personal director’s characteristics on the abnormal return. We use the event method to calculate the return and OLS method to determine factors that may affect the size of it. As a result, the abnormal return exists and director’s characteristics have a positive impact on its size.
