The Legal Nature of the Smart Contracts under Russian Law

The purpose of this work is to determine the legal nature of smart contracts under Russian law. The subject of the study includes Russian legislation and legislative initiatives aimed at regulating of smart contracts, doctrinal research on the issue, foreign regulations and doctrine. As a result of the study of Russian and foreign experience, the author proposed the definition of smart contracts, examined their specifics, and also analyzed the possibility of applying provisions on civil contracts to smart contracts.
