The Impact of Institutional Factors on the Development of Charity’ in Russia: a Longitudinal Study

The main aim of this research is to determine institutional factors as well as social, economic and political ones which have an impact on the size of charitable sector in 81 subjects of Russian Federation during the period of 2001 – 2016. For each region a database of charitable organisations, demographic and economic statistics are collected, the key changes in public policy in regard to third sector are identified. The tendency of people to take part in charity is also taken into account. This study can be useful because the analysed factors may ensure the strengthen the charities’ role in Russian economy. The most common method of research suggests to build model with fixed effects (FE), model with random effects (RE) and dynamic model. And as a result, more statistically significant relationship between the number of charitable organisations in Russian regions and the institutional factors is identified, the possible development vector of this research is set, however, in this research there are several sources of error.
