Nowadays the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is at the heart of debates about the relationship between companies and their stakeholders. Due to the fact that corporate social responsibility practices are not regulated, they may differ significantly. This peculiarity brings difficulties to the measurement of corporate social responsibility, which is the reason why academics still have controversial approaches to measuring corporate social responsibility. Nowadays companies have a tendency to disclose more quantitative and qualitative information about CSR in their corporate reports or on web-sites which opens new horizons for the research in this field. In this paper the author elaborated the system of CSR metrics which can be applied to open information about CSR of companies. With the method of principal component analysis those metrics were formed into general CSR index which was applied to the analysis of Russian companies’ corporate social responsibility. The method of OLS regression analysis was used to reveal significant influence of corporate social responsibility on companies’ performance. Elaborated system of metrics might serve as useful instrument for making decisions about investments or for academic purposes.
