This paper is about influence of corporate governance on Russian banks’ licence withdrawal. Most of the works related to this topic does not take into account banks that have had licence withdrawal due to a violation of the law on money laundering, falsification of accounts and other reasons not related to bankruptcy. The model includes 21 factors reflecting the characteristics of the firm, front office and board of directors, as well as the structure of the bank's owners. The study shows that corporate governance has a significant impact on the likelihood of banks' license revocation. The increase in the age of the firm, the size of the front office and board of directors, concentration of owners and participation of foreign capital reduces the probability of a license withdrawal. It was found that banks belonging to relatives are less exposed to the risk of withdrawing permission to conduct banking operations. Furthermore, the place of incorporation and the form of incorporation of the bank affect the dependent variable.
