Non-normative Bodies in Contemporary Theatre: on the Case of "Gala" Project (J. Bel, 2016)

This paper considers contemporary theatric process and the problematics of embodiment. What is counted to be worthy for analysis is the condition of the inclusion into the sphere of art, theatre in my case, bodies that recently could not exist there. This work aims to illustrate the transformation of the «normativity» of the dancing body through the performance «Gala» (J. Bel) that appeal to different models of the body. The deal of this paper is to describe the performance paying attention to the bodies and indicate how the inclusion of these «abnormative» bodies changes the theatrical aesthetic.
