The Particularity of Cosplayers Identity Participating with Different Motivation

The aim of the research was to study the identity particularities of cosplayers with a different motivation for participation in it in order to get a more complete theoretical and practical understanding of identity in the context of the practice of cosplay. In accordance with the target set, the following tasks were formulated: 1) to analyze the foreign and native concepts and theories of identity, to clarify the current definition of identity, allocate major factors of formation and types of identity; 2) to analyze the theoretical concepts of self-presentation, cosplay, image and compare existing views about each phenomenon; 3) to analyze empirical studies of cosplay in Russia and in the West, and on this basis allocate the socio-psychological characteristics of cosplay; 4) to develop suitable methodological tools to the operationalization of the basic theoretical concepts; 5) to develop a scheme of empirical research; 6) check the assumption of the existence of the difference between the needs in the implementation of cosplay for people with different aspects of identity. As a result of research the hypothesis has not been confirmed, but the main conclusion was made that, at this stage of studying of identity and cosplay social and personal aspects of identity do not affect on reasons why people participate in cosplay. As the recommendations were put forward the following proposals: research interest should be paid to other aspects of identity, as well as the creation of more convenient and appropriate methodical material in future for more accurate research the identity of people who been into cosplay.
