Interrelation of Individual-Typological Characteristics and Existential Fulfillment of the Personality

Year of Graduation: 2018

The aim of the study was to explore the interrelation between the individual-typological characteristics of the person and its level of existential fulfillment. We used Standardized Multifactor/Multiphasic Personality Inventory - SMPI, or СМИЛ (SMIL) in Russian (which is a modern Russian adaptation of the famous MMPI test) to measure the individual personality characteristics represented via multiple scales such as “pessimism”, “emotional lability”, “introversion” and many others. This was complemented by the five-factorial model of personality traits (The “Big 5” questionnaire). Existential fulfillment was investigated via TEM (test of existential motivations) based on A. Langle’s concept of four basic existential motivations. Most of the respondents were students aged 19 – 23. We suppose that there is a significant correlation between the degree of realization of fundamental existential motivations and individual-typological characteristics of personality.
