Year of Graduation: 2018

To choose the most effective visualization technique or tool for specific needs or to compare techniques or tools between each other, it is important to determine actions or tasks, which should be taken into account. Firstly, datasets, visualization tool for the analysis, formulated hypotheses should be defined. Next, selected visualization tool should be evaluated according to the predefined steps or criteria. Such criteria should be common for all visualization tools and divided into sub-groups. Each group and criteria should have the their own weights. After the evaluation users should obtain accumulated score for the visualization tool. To build evaluation environment for the visualization techniques benchmarking approach is proposed to apply. Built with the help of benchmarking evaluation environment enable users to compare two or more visualization tools in a methodical way. The goal is to explore and identify some of the components and procedures needed for performing evaluation and making comparison of the effectiveness of visualization tools.
