In this work the following aspects are considered: the impact of corruption on the main government institutions. Despite the fact that a large number of studies recognize the negative impact of corruption on the state of the political process, the scientific community has not yet formed a conditional definition regarding the functional role of corruption. Uncertainty also gives rise to the fact that countries with an nondemocratic political regime, where the level of corruption is in most cases higher than in democracies it remain stable. The main goal of the work is to identify the links between the factors that determine the socio-economic and political development of the state and the level of corruption in the country. In the thesis problems of the conceptual apparatus are analyzed, a sample is selected based on the minimalist theory of democracy. The author uses factor analysis to identify several main components from the common set of variables, in the space of which the structure of the mutual location of countries is described depending on the level of corruption and the quality of the work of the main institutional characteristics.
