This work is part of a study on the reproduction of status culture and social distance in selective schools in Moscow. The status of the school obliges to certain models of behavior. At the same time, such ideas are devoid of the standard "should study well" or "be honest". Rather, we can talk about the presence of a certain habitus as a system of dispositions, in which people should have aesthetic and value ideas about the right life, even outside the walls of the institution, that is, to correspond to the image of the "student ...-th school." Difficulties with adaptation to the school environment arise in non-resident students, which is in good agreement with the experience of Western studies. One of the factors of rejection of school culture and difficulties in adaptation is the lack of formal ways to resolve conflicts between students and teachers – excessive "non-formalization" of relations within the school environment creates a large space of uncertainty, the "rules of the game" which is difficult for some students to understand.
