Improvement of the Corrugated Packaging Production System by Optimizing the Order Fulfillment Process

This research is intended to provide practical recommendations on improving a planning system of a company PCBK operating in corrugated packaging production. Rosatom production system approach has been chosen for this purpose according to the company specificity. The process approach has been applied in this research. Although the project has a practical focus it can also be helpful in terms of a description of the modern production systems such as Toyota Production System Lean management and Rosatom Production System. Moreover, several methods of collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data has been shown in this research. Process modeling was used to demonstrate the current state of the planning system of the enterprise. After that an issue tree was created to detect problem areas of the system. In order to eliminate them a decision tree was created afterwards. The alternatives of the tree were evaluated and after that the authors have chosen the most promising of them and offered a detailed plan for improving the planning system which included a change in the process of scheduling orders, implementing a Fixed-Length FIFO Queue and creation of a regulation of work for an area of production. The methods described in this paper are powerful tools for reducing lead time which can be proven by a calculation of an economic effect of implementing the recommendations provided. These methods can be applied in any project aiming to estimate and improve company’s business processes.
