Hotels' Halal Services: Russian Сonsumers' Demand

As preference for hotel halal certification and hotel halal services are a new phenomenon for Russian hospitality, this paper estimates the significance of hotel halal services for Russian customers. Based on theoretical background there is systematizing list of hotel halal services, accordance to semi-structured interviews with hospitality industry experts there is adapting list of services for Russian consumers. According to theoretical and practical considerations research questions are proposed to examine what are the Russian consumers’ evaluation of hotel halal services and the connection between the respondents’ gender and religion and the significance of halal services. Based on self-administered questionnaire the data are collected from Russian consumers in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Kazan. Methods include t-test analyses, Mann — Whitney U-test, factor analyse. Russian halal hospitality is at the initial stage of development and there is no research of hotel halal services’ evaluation for Russian customers. In accordance to statistical analyses there are differences between Russian consumers’ gender and religion and importance of halal services and there is significance of hotel halal services for Russian consumers. Based upon the empirical findings of this research, there are recommendations for Russian halal hotels for consumer differences and preferences’ comprehension to satisfy Russian consumer needs.
