The Central Bank is one of the most influential and important institutions in the country. It is responsible for regulating monetary relations, issuing money, maintaining stable economic development and the exchange rate of the national currency. All this is necessary to smooth out the uncertainty with which the current situation in the world is intertwined. Individuals need to be confident in the absence, or, more likely, in minimizing the losses associated with their labor and creative activities. To maintain the competetiveness of the Russian economy and its development the Central Bank of Russia seeks to promote stable economic growth. As a target for reaching this goal, the Central Bank of Russia has chosen the inflation rate, that is, an inflation targeting policy widely used by regulators in many countries. The purpose of the study is to identify and measure the consequences of state regulation in the sphere of credit and monetary relations. As a research question, the paper posed the following: did the transition to the inflation targeting policy have a favorable impact on the Russian economy? The formulation of such question is due to the presence of a number of shortcomings of the current mechanism and the necessity of smoothing them.
