Freeloading as a Challenge of Interpersonal Communiction

The purpose of this research is to investigate the influence of freeloading on completing work successfully in group’s projects. The main interest in this research is on people involved in group activities. The students of National Research University ”Higher School of Economics” in Saint-Petersburg were selected for the study. The students’ community of this university is interested in such study because it has not conducted in-depth studies in the held of freeloading as a phenomenon in universities’ groups projects yet. The research was carried out by using quantitative methods. Surveys and structured interviews are used to collect data. The data used are all primary sources of data. The study shows that freeloading causes difficulties working in a team. If there are any difficulties while performing a group task then various conflicts happen. This research shows that complexities have positive and negative effects on the efficiency of group performance. Moreover, the study has further practical and theoretical suggestions. Key-words: freeloading, group development, corporative learning, free-rider theory.
