Touristic Destinations’ Attractiveness Elevation Based on Film-induced Tourism

Nowadays, there are significant changes in the desires of potential tourists: globalization, digitalization and other sociocultural processes are actively changing the modern society landscape. Steadily increasing number of tourist are choosing new and alternative routes, and destinations are looking for new ways to diversify their touristic offer. One of the way to attract more visitors can be film-induced tourism. This type of tourism is already actively developing in the countries of Europe, Australia and North America, but has hardly been studied on the territory of the Russia. On this basis, the research problem of this study to examine how film-induced tourism represented in Russian regions and especially in St. Petersburg, as well as what opportunities exist for its promotion: creation of film commissions, development of new tourist products and other alternatives The main purpose of this research is to develop evaluation methods of resources’ analysis and development film-induced tourism on the destination and based on the developed method, the formation of models / approaches / tools / support programs that promote increase in the attractiveness of the destination. The object of this study is the cinematographic resources of the territories and the forms of providing cinematographic products in Russian Federation in general and in St. Petersburg in particular. This goal was achieved in two stages. At the first stage, through the analysis of the best practices and the qualitative and regressive analysis of the regions of Russia for the development of film induced tourism. At the next stage, St. Petersburg was examined for its film resources, the city's cinematic zone in the form of map was developed, and a system of rebate program for film producers was proposed. Overall, film induced tourism can become a promising phenomenon in the Russian Federation, but the research has shown that active participation of all stakeholders is necessary.
