Abstract Are generalized beliefs centered around the social world (social axioms) related to career interest? We need to understand how social beliefs can predict career interest among students also, gender differences in the preference for specific careers. The recent study followed a large group of Ghanaian high school students as they indicate their preference for a career. Hypotheses are proposed based on the contributory functions of social axioms and career interest dimensions. Results from 252 participants from 216 districts in the ten regions of Ghana upheld the hypotheses: (a) Social beliefs were significant predictor of career interest in Ghana, (b) Social complexity significantly predicted social career interest among students in Ghana, (c) Reward for application significantly predicted enterprising careers interest among students in Ghana and (d) Social cynicism significantly predicted artistic career interest among students in Ghana.
