A Methodology for Assessing Public Perceptions of Mass Art Works

This work describes a methodology for assessing the audience perception of mass art by the example of Sergey Shnurov's creations. We carry out thematic coding of the critics works. As a result, we get the perception concept of Sergei Shnurov's creations by critics. Then we reveal ways of Sergey Shnurov's creations perception by the audience. As a result, we learn how the perception concepts of Sergei Shnurov's creations formed by critics work at the representatives of his audience. Finally we plan to identify the difference in the perception of Sergey Shnurov's creations by the audience, depending on the availability of socio-labor experience. Focus groups with two target audiences (with and without socio-labor experience) will help to get substantially different results and compare them with each other.
