Comic Book on Spirits of Celtic Mythology

Student: Repina Iuliia

Supervisor: Alexey Ryumin

Faculty: Faculty of Creative Industries

Educational Programme: Design (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2018

The main aim of this visual study was to examine how various images of the spirits and creatures of Celtic mythology are visually represented in numerous modern sources, and how differently they are shown. The task of this study was to select a number of pre-designated creatures from various media sources and investigate how their representations are depicted, how different they are or similar, and also to understand exactly which details of a creature create its recognizability. The result of my study is a book, where each creature is presented through a visual series consisting of works from comics, games and films. I examined how exactly the specific creature was depicted in different sources and how its image differed from its traditional representation.
