The Choice of a Soldier's Profession by Women

For the last ten years obvious growth of feminization in Armed Forces of Russia is observed. The purpose of this research is to identify the features of the choice of military profession by young girls and to learn the specifics of the training of female cadets in the military Academy. The paper considers theoretical approaches to the study of professional self-determination, highlights the main motives for choosing a military profession by young girls and describes career plans of female cadets. The study was conducted among female cadets of one of the military academies of St. Petersburg. The collection of empirical data was carried out using the semi-structured interview method. Key words: professional self-determination, motives for choosing a profession, career plans, military women, army.
