Cross-cultural Study of the Relationship of Personality Metatraits with Health Behavior and Health Literacy

The present study is aimed at the investigating the relationship of personality metatraits with health behavior and health literacy. The sample included 234 respondents and consists of two ethnic groups (Russians and Armenians). CPM-Q Personality Questionnaire (Strus, W., Cieciuch., J., & Rowinski, T., 2014), Health behavior questionnaire (Chen, 2014, Cynarski & Zeng, 2011, Jessor, 1992) and Health Literacy Short Form Questionnaire (Abel T., 2015) were adopted and used in the study. Empirical data were analyzed using multigroup confirmatory factor analysis to test a structure of measures with a low level of internal consistency in the existence of redundant items, multigroup structural equation modeling to test the models of relationship of personality metatraits with health improvement behavior and health literacy and cultural universality of these models. The result showed that personality metatraits could be significant predictors of different types of health improvement behavior and level of health literacy. Moreover, the study showed that these relationships of personality metatraits with health improvement behavior and health literacy can be culturaly universal
