Year of Graduation: 2018

Value creation and sustainability of this process is an essential motive of shareholders and potential investors. Clear understanding of factors that contribute to sustainable value creation and of their variation between industries is a prerequisite for value-based management. However, an in-depth analysis of determinants of sustainable value creation for Russian companies is not present in the existing literature. The aim of this research is to fill this research gap. The paper reveals patterns of value drivers and their characteristics for high- and low-performing companies in terms of sustainable value creation as well as industry specifics of these patterns. Based on the research findings the author proposed dynamic value creation index (DVCI), a tool for analysing companies’ performance in terms of value based management, and tested it on a sample of Russian companies.
