In the modern world the number of international migrations is constantly growing. This work is devoted to the study of Chinese migrants in Saint Petersburg, their leisure time activities and type of employment. It will also consider the reasons for choosing a particular type of employment and leisure activities. Adaptation of Chinese migrants in St. Petersburg, and, consequently, their employment and leisure, are considered in this paper through the prism of revised versions of assimilation theory. It is assumed that employment within the ethnic enclave is preferable, because it provides the protection from unexpected circumstances. Leisure will be carried out together with the co-ethnic population, and practices will be transformed, which is related to the very fact of migration. The object of the study is young Chinese, namely, representatives of Chinese nationality aged 25-35 years, living in St. Petersburg. The focus is on those who came here to find a job or stayed in the city after graduating university in Russia. The complementary research methods were used: collecting the empirical data (15 semi-structured interviews) and selecting the articles for conducting CDA (critical discourse analysis).
