In this work, the analysis of student campuses of the world was carried out. The topic of student campuses is little studied, which is confirmed by historical references on the formation, construction, development and current common understanding of what is meant by a student city. The analysis of various construction projects, both already included in the history, and very young, innovative and promising. From the study of domestic and foreign design experience, became clear, the pros and cons of research objects, their diversity, the ideas inherent in the design. Also, the necessary tasks facing the people responsible for the objects, the problems in the development of experienced design solutions, technological features and what are the primary tasks facing architects are considered. The presented theme of visual research is interesting and relevant at the present time, both from the theory (analysis, research of examples in the world) and from the practice (application of successful achievements of world analogues in the process of creation, development of the theme of the thesis: "Design concept of a student campus within the metropolis"). Currently, student campuses continue to be created, grow, develop, acquire new distinctive features, both abroad, but also, very importantly, in Russia.
