This study focuses on the extracurricular activities (ECA) practices and academic achievements of students from a special (correctional) school for children with special needs. The literature review is based on participation in additional sport and art lessons and their connection with school grades. Thus, the hypothesis is that students’ participation in after-school activities is positively correlated with grades at ordinary schools. To find whether the same correlation between children’s with special needs ECA and grades exists, the regression analysis was conducted. The results suggest that participation in structured after-school art classes positively correlates with academic achievements.
