Changing Perception about Necessary Skills and Competences of Sociologist

The main objective of the study was to determine the perceptions of stakeholder groups (students, employers, teachers) about the skills and competencies of students of sociology, in demand on the labor market in the conditions of market transformation of sociological research. The study used the method of individual deep semi-structured interviews to obtain a rich set of detailed information on a relatively small number of cases. The study used the eight-window model of Steinberg to assess the views of people with different experiences. The first-year students, fourth-year students and teachers of the Sociology Department of the Higher School of Economics, HR-managers of research / advertising / marketing companies were interviewed. The study evaluate the ideas about the necessary skills and competencies of a modern sociologist. The work includes a theoretical framework, a description of the methodology and the results of the study.
