This research is focused on the issue of a relationship between economy and turnout/voting decisions. In order to understand this relationship a set of regression models were used on Russian regional economic data. The results show the presence of pocketbook voting in Russian parliamentary elections to some degree and sociotropic voting in regard with presidential elections. However, the analyzes uncovered some irregular effects which may require further research.
