The bachelor thesis is devoted to the study of individual and school factors of educational failure of students with high socioeconomic status of the family. The problem of the research is insufficient knowledge of exact factors which can explain the low educational achievements of schoolchildren from families with high socioeconomic status. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis examines the relationship between the socioeconomic status and the academic results of schoolchildren, defines the basic concepts that reveal the characteristics of deviation from expected accomplishments, as well as approaches to measuring educational achievements and theoretical aspects of the social status and life chances of the individual. In the empirical part of the bachelor thesis 4399 questionnaires filled with students of the 9th grade in 2012 as part of their PISA testing were selected. A regression analysis of these questionnaires was carried out to identify the factors affecting the performance of students from families with high economic status. The general conclusion of the bachelor thesis: the study group accounted for 8,2% of the total number of school students participating in PISA testing in Russia.
