Practices of Treatment and Using of Medical Care among Migrant Workers from CIS Countries in Saint-Petersburg

Medicine in Russia for migrants has its peculiar properties. Thus, the main purpose of this study is to regard how migrant workers use opportunities of medical care in Saint-Petersburg. The research question is how migrant workers from CIS countries use medicine in Saint-Petersburg and which problems they have to deal with? The empirical part consists of 20 interviews with migrant workers who live in Saint-Petersburg about their experience of encounter with medicine. Results show that there are some models of behavior when they need to visit a doctor and there are barriers and difficulties with access to medical care for immigrants.
