Psychological Basics of "Polyamourous" Relationship

Gradually polyamory is becoming more popular in modern Russia. However, the public discussion about this form of relations is mainly concentrated within the poly-community and for the most of the Russian society polyamory relations are invisible or categorically unacceptable. In this study, we analyzed the socio-historical and philosophical-psychological foundation and context of polyamory relationship, the components of contemporary sexual culture, which have an impact on the formation of polyamorous identity. Theoretical analysis allowed to identify the location of polyamory in modern sexual culture, as well as to identify historical and psychological reasons, in connection with which polyamory is rejected by the general public. The empirical part of the study was devoted to the phenomenological analysis of the psychological foundations of polyamorous relationship. Using the P. Colazzi's structural method, important topics were identified from conversations with co-investigators. This topics helped to reveal the important for poly interpersonal processes relations and the attitudes and feelings inherent in poly persons connected with the building consensual non-monogamous relationships.
