Aim of this paper is to inquire experience of personal encounter in romantic relationships and its influence on formation of authenticity. Phenomenological analysis helped to explore genesis, content, characteristics, and invariant components of this experience of personal encounter through comparison of this phenomenon with phenomenon of intimacy. As a result a structured model of these two phenomena was developed. This model includes components inherent to both phenomena and peculiarities, which were classified from the position of existential analysis, which help to differentiate them. Sexuality as experience and activity in the structure of phenomena of encounter and intimacy belongs to all four fundamental motivations (acc. to A. Laengle). This makes sexuality unique in its role of binding together and deepening experiencing of other components, without which, however, its role in formation of authenticity would probably be more decent.
