Работа посвящена изучению процесса конструирования новых смыслов у индивидов, находящихся на различных стадиях трудной жизненной ситуации (внутри, на границе выхода и за ее пределами) в контексте психологического консультирования и психотерапии. Осознание того, что жизнь не вечна – может актуализировать вопрос о смысле жизни, однако, было бы наивно полагать, будто жизнь может иметь единый всеохватывающий смысл, в свете которого приобретает смысл любая активность в настоящем, прошлом и будущем. Значимым остается интерес к смыслу текущих уникальных жизненных событий и ситуаций, прохождение которых является частью процесса становления личности, поэтому, прежде чем говорить о смысле жизни, свободы, любви, творчества и, вообще, о существующих смысловых универсалиях, необходимо рассмотреть само понятие «смысл».
