In the modern world the importance and necessity of higher education is evident. It is obvious that every person who is looking for a suitable job according to their skills and potential is interested in finding a place where he can realize himself and have an opportunity to develop and grow every day. The analysis of international literature shows that there is a high interest in problems of education system, student’s employment and school-to-work adaptation. Although this topic is particularly important for the governmental education policy, labour market studies and its dependence with higher education, there is a lack of this kind of research in Russia. This study is dedicated to analysis of Russian student’s career expectations. The main purpose is to offer recommendations on how to improve communication between young specialists and future employers as long as generations are changing and appearance of new methods is inevitable. In the first theoretical part, the basics of human resource management and its recruitment and selection methods are described. Moreover, this part is dedicated to analysis of differences between generations and their perceptions of education and future career. The empirical part is presented by analysis of data collected by polls and interviews with students studying management and business in Higher School of Economics and HR specialists of leading multinational firms. The conducted research allows to make conclusions about current education strategies, student’s career opportunities and outline existing problems. In conclusion the recommendations for both students and employers are given. The reached results of this study may be used in making a process of finding a job for students clear and less stressful, building adaptation programs for the Millennials on labour market and improving governmental education programs considering the requirements of Generation Y.
