The dynamics of the world forces organizations and their projects to adjust by changing their internal environment. Employees are not always ready for innovation, this results in resistance to change, which can adversely affect the success of the project and companies. With the help of awareness, it is possible to develop staff readiness for changes, but scientists have not revealed the role of awareness in the management of resistance to change and innovation yet. In this paper, an empirical study was conducted to reveal of the role of group awareness in reducing resistance to change. The sample was 330 people employed in companies which offices are located on the territory of Russia, mainly in Moscow and Moscow Region. The results of the correlation and regression analyzes revealed the presence of weak positive links between group awareness and resistance to change, which can be explained by the influence of the unstable economic situation of the Russian Federation on Russian workers.
